BORN HULL 1884. WIFE CICELY (NEE EDWARDS), OF “THE LEAS”, NEWLAND PARK, HULL. SON OF RICHARD & SARAH ELIZABETH RILEY, OF 12, FALMOUTH STREET, HULL. EMPLOYED BY MESSRS, BRUMBY & CLARKES, AS A LITHOGRAPHER.

SERVED AS A DISPATCH RIDER IN THE ROYAL ENGINEERS. WENT TO EGYPT, IN 1916. TAKEN PRISONER, IN MARCH 1917, AT THE BATTLE OF GAZA. DIED OF DYSENTERY, AT BAGHTSCHE, TURKEY, ON 23/11/1917, AGED 33. HE WAS HIGHLY RESPECTED BY A WIDE CIRCLE OF FRIENDS AND LEFT A WIDOW AND CHILD TO MOURNE HIS LOSS. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 03/06/1918. *
