BORN HULL 07/07/1896. ELDEST SON OF FRED ROBINSON & EMILY ROBINSON. BEYOND HIS PARENTS CONTROL, HE WAS SENT TO WAKEFIELD REFORMATORY SCHOOL FOR STEALING HIS MOTHER’S CLOTHES. HE WAS DESCIBED AS GINGER HAIR, GRE EYES, PROPORTIONATE BUILD, CUT SCARS ON CHIN AND TATTOO MARKS ON LEFT FOREARM. EDUCATED AT ST MARKS AND CHAPMAN STREET SCHOOLS, HULL. HIS FATHER WAS A CORPORATION BLACKSMITH AND DESCRIBED AS “RESPECTABLE”. HE WAS RELEASED ON LICENCE, ON 28/09/1912, AGED 16, TO LIVE WITH PAREBNTS. WORKED FOR MESSRS FC HOLMES, ENGINEERS, ENGLISH STREET, HULL.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 24/10/1914. SERVED WITH THE 2ND EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. WENT TO FRANCE IN JANUARY 1915. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 05/05/1915, AGED 19. HE WOULD HAVE BEEN 20 YEARS OLD IN JULY. HIS DEATH AND PHOTOGRAPH APPEAR IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL 1ST JUNE 1915, AND THE HULL TIMES ON 5TH JUNE 1915. *
HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, FRED. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE YPRES MEMIN GATE MEMORIAL, BELGIUM. HE IS REMEMBERED ON HIS PARENTS GRAVESTONE, AT HEDON ROAD CEMETERY.
