Harry Ernest Robinson – Family Grave, Hull Western Cemetery

Born Hull October 1886. Third Son of Robert William Robinson and Annie Robinson, of 21 Norwood street, Hull. He had three brothers, Charles, Sidney and Alfred and six sisters, Eliza, Maude, Florence, Ethel, Dora and Beatrice. He worked as a Stock Taker/Accountant for the Hull & Barnsley Railway. He had enlisted in the 1/4th EYR Territorials on 2nd April 1908.

Husband of Ellison Robinson (born 18/7/1886) of 92, Freehold Street, Hull (CWGC Address).

Enlisted in Hull. Served with the 1/4th EYR. Posted to France, on 18/4/1915. Killed in Action, shot by a Sniper 26th May 1915 aged 28 Years. He had served with the Regiment for 7 years and 55 days.

Commemorated on the Ypres Menin Gate Memorial, Belgium.

Recorded as “Killed”, on the South Parade Roll of Honour, Hull, also recorded Norwood Street Shrine Roll of Honour.

His death was reported in the Hull Times, on 05/06/1915, with his photograph.

Also recorded on the Family grave at Hull Western Cemeter – “In Loving Memory of George William eldest son of R.W. & A. Robinson Died Sept. 21st 1902 aged 21 years “At Rest” Also harry Ernest third and dearly loved son of the above beloved Husband of D C Robinson (nee Calem) Corporal 4th East Yorks. Killed in Action May 26th 1915 aged 28 years ‘His Duty Done’ Also the above Annie Robinson who passed away February 18th 1924, aged 70 years “for ever in our thoughts” also the above R.W. Robinson died Sept. 6th 1929 aged 74 years ;
