BORN BRIDLINGTON 1889. ONLY SON OF CHARLES WILLIAM ROUNDING (1865-1927) & ELIZA YOUNG (1868-1932), OF RAILWAY HOUSE, GLADSTONE STREET, ANLABY ROAD, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). HE HAD FIVE SISTERS. WORKED AS A BARMAN, AT THE WHITE SWAN HOTEL, GRIMSBY. MARRIED AT HULL IN 1912. HUSBAND TO ELSIE AND TWO SONS, LIVING AT 17, IVY AVENUE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS)

HE ENLISTED AT BEVERLEY. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 22824, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED TO THE 20TH TYNESIDE SCOTS. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 16/10/1916, AGED 27. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, ELSIE.

HE IS BURIED AT RATION FARM MILITARY CEMETERY, LA CHAPELLE-D’ARMENTIERES. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN”.

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH MEMORIAL, NEWINGTON, HULL.
HE LEFT YOUNGER SISTERS, ELSIE, EDITH, DORA, EVA AND ANNIE.
