SON OF HERBERT (1868-1937) ROWBOTTOM AND ELIZABETH RUSHTON (1873-1917), OF 3 DAWSON TERRACE, EMILY STREET, HEDON ROAD AND 27 WENTWORTH STREET, CHURCH STREET, DRYPOOL, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). A RULLYMAN. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 4.5 INCHES TALL, 136 LBS WEIGHT, 38 INCH CHEST, BLUE EYES, AUBURN HAIR. HIS NAMES WAS TATTOOED ON HIS RIGHT ARM. HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 14/09/1914. HE JOINED THE HULL PALS. SERVED WITH THE 12TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, IN EGYPT AND FRANCE. FOUGHT AT SERRE AND OPPY WOOD. HE HAD ACCIDENTALLY WOUNDED HIMSELF WHILE “RATTING” IN THE TRENCH, ON 24/07/1917. HIS RIFLE WAS DISCHARGE WOUNDING HIM IN THE FACE. HE WAS CLEARED OF SELF INFLICTED INJURY. HE WAS LATER KILLED IN ACTION, ON 08/11/1917, AGED 21.
