BORN STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN 1868. A MERCHANT NAVY SAILOR. LOST AT SEAN ON THE “ETOIAN”, ON 23/03/1918, AGED 80. HIS NAME IS LISTED IN THE HULL MERCHANT NAVY ROLL OF HONOUR.
Etonian SS was a 6,515 grt defensively-armed British Merchant Ship of the Leyland Line. Built as “Chicago” 1901 and transferred from Wilson´s & Furness to the Leyland Line.
On the 23rd March 1918 when on route from Liverpool for Boston, Mass. she was torpedoed by German submarine U-61 and sunk when 34 miles S by E ½ E from Old Head of Kinsale, Ireland. 7 lives lost. Owned by F. Leyland & Co, Liverpool.
