Rutherford, Sidney Herbert

Born Selby, 1891. Son of James William and Fanny Rutherford, of 54, Weatherill Street, Goole. His father was an Assistant Station Master on the Railways. He had six brothers and three sisters. He was working as an Assistant Signalman, living at 23, Manuel Street, Goole, (1911 Census). He was living in Hull when war began.

He enlisted in Hull. Formerly 21743, E. Yorks Regiment. Transferred to the 2nd Yorkshire Hussars (Alexandra, Princes of Wales’ Own). He was killed in action, on 02/04/1917, aged 26. He is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France.

His army effects were left to his brother, Samuel.
