Salvidge, Edmund

BORN HULL 1897. SON OF EILEN DRURY (1870-1951) & THE LATE WALTER SALVIDGE (1868-1898), OF 17 JUBILEE TERRACE, GOULTON STREET, HULL, (1911 CENSUS) AND THIS CWGC ADDRESS. PRIOR TO THE WAR HE WORKED AT THE QUEENS HOTEL. HE ENLISTED AT HULL. SERVED WITH THE 11TH WEST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. WAS ACCIDENTALLY KILLED, ON 13/11/1915, AGED 18. HE WAS AWARDED THE BRITISH WAR MEDAL AND VICTORY MEDAL. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE RETURNED TO HIS MOTHER, EILEN. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH ON 24TH NOVEMBER 1915. * HE LEFT SIBLINGS, WINIFRED, TILLY, CYRIL AND JOHN SALVIDGE.
HE IS BURIED AT X FARM CEMETERY, LA CHAPELLE-D’ARMENTIERES. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “THE DEVOTED SON OF EILEN & WALTER SALVIDGE – REST IN PEACE”.
