HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 11/12/1915. SERVED IN “C” COMPANY, 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. ARRIVED FRANCE 21/07/1916. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 25/09/1916, AGED 29. COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, SOMME, FRANCE.

ALSO COMMEMORATED ON THE WW1 MEMORIAL AT ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH, NEWINGTON, HULL.

UNMARRIED. HE LEFT FOUR BROTHERS, HERBERT, HENRY, ARTHUR AND JOSEPH, AND ONE SISTER LILLY.
HIS BROTHER HERBERT SERVED IN THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY DURING THE WAR.
