Saville, Edward Rispin

Born Hull, 3 Oct 1893. Son of William George Saville and Maria Rispin (1857-1901). He had two brothers and four sisters. Joined the Army aged 18 and was a Professional soldier when war began.

Enlisted 17 Aug 1908. Served with the 1st  & 6th East Yorkshire Regiment (1911 Census) and the 10th Prince of Wales’s Own (West Yorkshire) Regiment.

Discharged on 11 April 1919, with gas posioning wounds. Awarded the Silver War Badge (No:B270998). After the war he was a Storeman in the Aircraft Works (1939 Census).

Died in Hull, on 12 Dec 1950, aged 57. His death was reported in the Hull daily Mail, on 13 Dec 1950.

Married Charlotte Louisa Nutley, (1895–1979), at Hull in 1917. His widow lived at 6, Stanley Crescent, Hawthorne Avenue, Hull (war pension address).

His brother, Rifleman, Allison Rispin Saville, R/7646, 1st KRRC, died of wounds, on 10 Mar 1915.
