BORN HULL 1892. SON OF WILLIAM CHARLES SCHOON (1853-1899) AND ELIZA MUNDY (1861-1943), OF 10 LONDSBOROUGH AVENUE, WENLOCK STREET, HULL AND 62, WYNDHAM STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). A WORKED AS A LABOURER.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL. JOINED THE 34TH ROYAL ARMY MEDICAL CORPS (RAMC). PROMOTED TO SERGEANT. SENT TO GALLIPOLI, ON 05/07/1915. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION AT SULVA BAY ON 08/12/1915, AGED 23. HE IS BURIED AT HILL 10 CEMETERY, ON THE PENINSULAR.
HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE SHARED BETWEEN HIS MOTHER ELIZA LITTLEFIELD, AND SIBLINGS, GEORGE, SARAH, ARTHUR, ERNEST AND GERTRUDE.
FRANK SCHOON IS LISTED ON THE WENLOCK BARRACKS ROLL OF HONOUR. HE WAS THE ONLY PERSON WITH THE SURNAME “SCHOON” ON CWGC RECORDS IN WW1.
HIS BROTHER, CORPORAL, ERNEST SCHOON, (DCM), SERVED WITH THE 131ST FIELD AMBULANCE, RAMC, AND WAS AWARDED THE DISTINGUISHED CONDUCT MEDAL FOR RESCUING WOUNDED AT LE CATEAU, HE LIVED AT 62 WYNDHAM STREET, HULL. HIS BROTHER GEORGE SERVED IN THE ROYAL NAVY.
