Born Market Weighton, East Yorkshire, 1874. Son of George and Victoria Scott, of Market Weighton, Yorks. On leaving school he worked as a Bank Clerk at Market Weighton. He became the Pocklington Bank Manager between 1900-1905 and was also attached to the Bank of Beverley. He married Jenny Bell, on 06/11/1911 at All Saints Church, Market Weighton. They had two children.
George was a member of the 2nd East Yorkshire Regiment before the war and when war began joined the 5th Yorkshire Regiment. He was killed in action, in Belgium, on Christmas day, 1915, aged 41.
His wife Jenny died in March 1918 and their two children George and Victoria went to live with her father, Robert Bell, the Hotel keeper of the Londesborough, in Market Weighton.
