Scott, John Francis

BORN HULL 1885. SON OF TOM SCOTT (1859-1938) AND PATIENCE LAVINIA SCOTT (1857-1919), OF 150 WELBECK STREET, PRINCES AVENUE, HULL AND 13 SOMERSCALES STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). A FORMER BRICKLAYER, EMPLOYED BY MR J.T. LEVITT, HOLDERNESS ROAD, HULL.

HE ENLISTED AT HULL, IN JUNE1916. SERVED WITH THE ROYAL ENGINEERS AS A SAPPER. HE HAD ONLY BEEN IN FRANCE FOR THREE MONTHS WHEN HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 31/07/1917, AGED 32. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 25/08/1917. *

COMMEMORATED ON THE MENIN GATE MEMORIAL, YPRES. HIS WIFE ALICE LIVED ABOVE & THEN MOVED TO 71 BANNISTER STREET, WITHERNSEA.
