BORN WAKEFIELD 1872. SON OF JAMES AND ANNIE SCOTT. ONE OF SEVEN CHILDREN AND THREE SONS KILLED IN THE WAR.

A LABOURER. HE MARRIED, LYDIA SWATMAN (1873-1945), AT ST MARKS CHURCH HULL. IN 1898. HE LIVED AT 14 KATES TERRACE, NORNABELL STREET, 3, PENNS BUILDINGS, CLEVELAND STREET, HULL AND ALSO 22 HOOD STREET, HULL.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS LANCE CORPORAL, 2030, 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. WAS KILLED IN BELGIUM, ON 07/01/1916, AGED 44,

HE LEFT A WIDOW, LYDIA, AND EIGHT CHILDREN. AT 22 HOOD STREET, NEW CLEVELAND STREET, HULL.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH ON 25TH JANUARY 1916. *
HE IS BURIED AT MAPLE COPSE CEMETERY, BELGIUM. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “THEIR GLORY SHALL NOT BE BLOTTED OUT”.
HIS SON, PRIVATE, JAMES SCOTT, 201282, TYNESIDE SCOTS, DIED OF WOUNDS IN FRANCE, ON 17/04/1918, AGED 19.
HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, RICHARD SCOTT, OF EGTON STREET, HULL, SERVED WITH 1ST NFUS. HE WAS KILLED IN BELGIUM, ON 10/01/1915, AGED 33.

ANOTHER, BROTHER, LANCE SERGEANT, JAMES SCOTT, 3/6524, 8TH EYR, LIVED AT FRANCIS STREET HULL AND WAS KILLED AT THE SOMME, ON 18/08/1916, AGED 41.
