Seaman, Arthur Spencer David

Born Thrandeston, Suffolk, 1893. Son of David Enoch Seaman (1869-1956) and Eliza Cullum (1873-1964), of Shimpling, Diss, Norfolk.

Worked as a Waggoner (farm) at Gransmoor, Lowthorpe, Driffield (1911 Census).

Enlisted at Beverley. Served with the 2nd Yorkshire Regiment. Killed on the first day of the Battle of the Somme, 01/07/1916, aged 23. Commemorated on the Thiepval memorial.

Married 14th June 1915. Husband of Gertrude E. Sawdon (formerly Seaman) (1893-1985), of Thorpe, Lockington, Yorkshire. They had one son, Arthur Leslie Seaman, born on 17th June 1916.
