Patrington WW1 Memorial Tablet, St Patrick’s Church, Patrington. 111 men served and 24 died in WW1

Born Patrington, 1886. Son of the late Richard Sharp (1834-1918) and Ann Eliza Sharp (1839-1916), of Patrington;

He married Henrietta Stead (1883-1959), on 6/11/1904, at Thornes, St James with Christ Church, Yorkshire. They lived at 10 Hartley Yard Kirkgate Wakefield. They had four daughters. He was employed as a Labourer.

He enlisted in Wakefield. Served with the 6th King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Killed in action, on  15/05/1915, aged 29. He is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium.

His army effects were left to his widow, Henrietta. She remarried and became Mrs Dunhill of 63 Rodney Yard, St Georges Road, Kirkgate (War pension address).

He is commemorated on the Patrington ww1 Memorial and at St Patrick Church.
