Shevill, Edwin

Born Holbeck, Leeds, 1893. Son of John Edwin and Adelaide Shevill, of Leeds and 14, Dryden Street, Westcott Street, Hull (War pension address). A bootmaker. Unmarried. He ad one brother, Walton and one sister, Kate Allen. Described as 5 foot, 7.5 ” tall, 126 lbs weight, 34-37 ” chest, blue eyes, brown hair.

He enlisted in Hull, on 9th Sept 1914. Posted to France, on 14th July 1915. Served with the 7th EYR. Wounded in the right thigh & right arm, on 11th Aug 1915. Attached to the 32nd Trench Mortar section, on 26th Jan 1916.

Killed in action, on 01/07/1916, aged 24. Buried at Fricourt Cemetery, Somme, France. He had served in the army for 1 year and 197 days.  His army effects were left to his mother, Adelaide.
