He married in Bridlington on 12th May 1915. Husband of Elfreda Siddall, of “Ashleigh,” 68, Marshall Avenue, Bridlington (CWGC address).
Educated at Central school Bridlington. Worked as a Bricklayer, for Sampson and Siddall Contractors.
He enlisted in Hull, on 24th December 1914. Served as Sapper, 422nd Field Coy., Royal Engineers. Took part in the fighting at St Eloi in 1916 and Cambrai, in 1817. Wounded at St Eloi on 2nd March 1916 and invalided home. returned to France, on 5th May 1917. Killed in action, on 30/11/1917, aged 26. Commemorated on the Cambrai Memorial, France.
His army effects were left to his widow, Elfreda and daughter, Kathleen Matilda (born 21st March 1916).
His brother, Bernard (RAMC) and Silvester Siddall (Leicestershire Regiment) also served in the war.
