BORN 19/04/1888 BIRDSALL, YORKSHIRE. SON OF JOHN WILLIAM SIMPSON (1856-1924) AND HENRIETTA BERTHA SIMPSON (1865-1944), OF 6 THE POPLARS, DURHAM STREET.

HE WAS EMPLOYED AS A CHECKER, FOR THE HULL AND BARNSLEY RAILWAYS (1911 CENSUS). HIS WIFE, MAUDE (HUDSON) SIMPSON & CHILD, LIVED AT 9 PARK GROVE, WYNBURG STREET, HULL.

HE ENLISTED AT HULL. SERVED IN THE 8TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 26/09/1917, AGED 29. COMMEMORATED ON THE TYNE COT MEMORIAL
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 24/07/1918.
