Sinclair, George William

Born Hull 1890. Son of John and Annie E. Sinclair, at 188, Division Road, Hessle Road, Hull (War Pension address). He was a Warehouseman. Described in his Army records as 5 foot, 1.5 inches tall, 33-35.5 inch chest, “Bad” character.

Called up on 01/06/1916. Tried for house breaking and stealing jewellery and clothing and sentenced to 6 months imprisonment, on 20/10/1916. Released from prison and went absent, on 08/04/1917. Arrested and put in the 23rd Durham Light Infantry (Training Reserves). Discharged for Misconduct, on 29/05/1917. Served for 363 days. He was sent to a “Mental Deficiency Asylum” on 16/10/1918. Suffered from “Idiocy” from birth which caused his misconduct and was not aggravated by Military service. He died of disease, on 13/02/1919, aged 29.
