BORN HULL 1887. SON OF WILLIAM KING SISSONS (1861-1927) & SARAH JANE HARRISON (1858-1929), OF 6, BOTANIC AVENUE, CONVENT LANE, HULL.
HE MARRIED AT HULL REGISTRY OFFICE, IN 1917. HUSBAND OF ELLEN MABLE LAWRENCE (1892-1969). THEY LIVED AT 1, ST LUKES TERRACE, ST LUKES STREET, HULL (HULL DAILY MAIL ADDRESS 03/11/1916), 10, ELIZAS TERRACE, CAMPBELL STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS), 6, BOTANIC AVENUE, CONVENT LANE, HULL AND 8, RUTH TERRACE, CAMPBELL STREET,HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESSES).
A FORMER SOLDIER WHO HAD SERVED IN INDIA. HE WAS EMPLOYED BY THE NORTH EASTERN RAILWAYS.
HE WAS MOBILIZED ON 12/08/1914 AND POSTED TO FRANCE WITH THE BRITISH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE. SERVED AS SERGEANT WITH THE 1ST KING’S LIVERPOOL REGIMENT. FOUGHT AT MONS AND MANY OTHER ENGAGEMENTS. HE WAS WOUNDED ONCE AND ALSO GASSED. AWARDED THE MILITARY MEDAL (MM) FOR BRAVERY, on 14/09/1916. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, BETWEEN 21/03/1918 AND 26/03/1918. HIS BODY WAS NEVER FOUND.
HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE ARRAS MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING IN FRANCE.
