BORN METHERINGHAM, LINCS, 1868. SON OF EDMUND SKINNS AND CHARLOTTE JACKSON (1822-1903). HE HAD ONE BROTHER, BENJAMIN SKINNS. HE WAS A PIT PROP CARRIER, LIVING AT 2, DEVON GROVE, SCULCOATES LANE, HULL (1911 CENSUS).

MARRIED AT CAISTOR, LINCS, ON 09/05/1891. HIS WIFE, ELEANOR LOUISE SAUNDERSON (BORN 9/5/1869 – 1953) AND TWO DAUGHTERS, FLORENCE AND PHYLLIS, LIVED AT 2, DEVON GROVE, SCULCOATES LANE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). THEIR SON LEONARD SKINNS (1897-1977) HAD EMIGRATED TO VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA AS A FARMER AND SERVED IN THE 4TH LIGHT HORSE DURING THE WAR. THEIR OTHER SON CHARLES CYRIL SKINNS (1899-1985) ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 21/08/1918 AND JOINED THE TANK CORPS. HE ALSO EMIGRATED TO AUSTRALIA AFTER THE WAR.

GEORGE SKINNS ENLISTED AT HULL. SERVED WITH THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. DIED OF WOUNDS ON 22/07/1916, AGED 48.

BURIED HULL NORTHERN CEMETERY (PLOT 82/37).

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 25/07/1916.

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON  ST MARYS CHURCH MEMORIAL, SCULCOATES LANE, HULL.
