Born Hull 1893. Eldest son of Mrs Harriet Stephenson, of 7 Harcourt Street, East Hull. Enlisted in Hull when war began. Served with the 6th East Yorkshire Pioneers, in Egypt and at Gallipoli. Killed in action, on 05/09/1916, aged 23. He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial to the missing at the Somme.
His death was reported in the Hull daily Mail, on 21/09/1916, *
His step father was serving in France, whilst a brother in law had already been wounded twice. His army war pension, was left to his mother, Harriet, who moved to 32 Cleveland Street, Hull and died on 23/12/1923.
