BORN BRANDESBURTON, HULL 1899. SON OF THOMAS & LATE FANNY SMITH, OF IVY TERRACE, WALKINGTON, BEVERLEY. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS, PRIVATE, HENRY SMITH, 77371, 15TH DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY, KILLED ON 21/03/1918, AGED 19.

HIS BROTHER, STAMFORD SMITH, SERVED AS A DRIVER IN THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY AND DIED ON 12/05/1917, AGED 23. HE IS BURIED AT SOUTH CAVE CEMETERY.

BOTH ARE COMMEMORATED ON THE ROWLEY WW1 MEMORIAL, LITTLE WEIGHTON, WITH 15 MEN FROM THE VILLAGE
