Born Hull 1878. Parents deceased. He had one brother, in Liverpool and two married sisters.
He married at St Giles church, Hull, on 24/12/1909. Husband of Olive Whitworth, of 17, Stanley Terrace, Lee Smith Street, Hull (Army Address) and 18, Clarence Avenue, Delhi Street, Marfleet, Hull (War Pension address). They had four children. he worked as a labourer.
He enlisted in Hull, on 15/01/1915. Served with the 1st East Yorkshire regiment. Killed in action, on 01/07/1916, aged 38.
