Born Kilham, Yorkshire, 1885. Son of Charles and Mary Elizabeth Smithson, of South Dalton, Beverley, East Yorkshire; He had three brothers and three sisters.
Married at Wetwang, East Yorkshire, on 25 Nov 1911. Husband of Marion Smithson, of Wetwang, Malton, Yorks. They had four children. A Farm Foreman.
He enlisted at Driffield, on 7th Dec 1915.. Served in the 1st East Yorkshire Regiment. Killed in action, on 22/03/1918, aged 33.
