BORN BARTON UPON HUMBER, 1884. RAISED BY HIS AUNT AND UNCLE, ELIZABETH AND GEORGE R. WILKINSON, IN BARTON. HE MOVED ACROSS THE HUMBER TO WORK AS AN OIL MILL LABOURER. HE BOARDED AT 14, SPRINGFIELD VILLAS, MORLEY STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS).

HE ENLISTED IN THE EYR IN 1915 AND TRANSFERRED TO THE 10TH KOYLI. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 16/09/1916, AGED 31.

HIS WIDOW, MABEL MATHILDA AND DAUGHTER, LOUISA, LIVED AT 7, EARLES ROW, WITHERNSEA STREET, WILMINGTON, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).

HIS BROTHER IN LAW, JAMES LEEMING, WHO LIVED AT THE SAME ADDRESS, WAS KILLED ON 1ST JULY 1916. THEY HAD BOTH WORKED TOGETHER AT EARLES’ CEMENT WORKS. KNOWN AS JOHN, HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 8TH NOVEMBER 1916, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH.*
