BORN SHEFFIELD 1884. SON OF ALFRED AND ALICE SPENCER. HE LIVED IN OWSTON, LINCS, AND LISCARD, CHESHIRE. WAS THE FORMER LANDLORD OF THE ‘CROOKED BILLET’ PUB, ON HOLDERNESS ROAD. HE ENLISTED IN BIRKENHEAD. SERVED AS SERGEANT, 10989, IN THE 9TH CHESHIRES. WOUNDED AT GALLIPOLI. HE DIED OF WOUNDS IN ALEXANDRIA HOSPITAL, EGYPT, ON 28/09/1915, AGED 31. UNMARRIED HE LEFT A SISTER, ELIZABETH.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL TIMES, ON 16/10/1915, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
