BORN GOOLE 1892. SON OF THOMAS & ELIZABETH ANN STEELS, OF 15 GROVESNOR TERRACE, GROSVENOR STREET, HULL (ARMY RECORD ADDRESS).  A BARMAN AT THE SHIPWRIGHT ARMS, NAYLORS ROW, HULL. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 5 INCHES TALL, 141 LBS WEIGHT, 36.5 INCH CHEST, GREY EYES, DARK BROWN HAIR. ENLISTED HULL, ON 28/09/1914.  JOINED THE HULL PALS. TRAINED AT RIPON AND SALISBURY CAMPS. SERVED WITH THE 12TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT IN EGYPT AND FRANCE. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 06/01/1918, AGED 26. HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 3 YEARS, AND 100 DAYS. HE IS BURIED IN FRANCE. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 30/01/1918. *

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, ELIZABETH. HE LEFT BROTHER THOMAS AND SISTER LOUISA STEELS.
