Frederick James Strickland, Royal Naval Reserve, 15/01/1915, aged 24, of 16 Harold’s Avenue, Buckingham Street, Hull.

BORN HULL 04/04/1888. SON OF JOHN ROBERT STRICKLAND (1861-1944) & ANNIE PILSWORTH (1862-1926), OF 104 WALKER STREET, HULL (1921 ADDRESS). ONE OF SEVEN CHILDREN. MARRIED MIRIAM PETCH (1888-1973), AT HULL, IN 1912. HIS WIFE MIRIAM AND SON WILLIAM (1913-1967) LIVED AT 16 HAROLD’S AVENUE, BUCKINGHAM STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). HE WAS BROTHER TO, JOHN, WILLIAM, ANNIE, ALICE, LIZZIE AND ROBERT.
HE SERVED IN THE ROYAL NAVAL RESERVE, AS A STOKER, ON THE ARTILLERY SHIP, “MERCEDES”. HE WAS ACCIDENTALLY KILLED, DURING COALING WITH HMS “CYCLOPS”. HE DIED ON 15/01/1915, AGED 24. BURIED AT OSMONDWALL CEMETERY, LONGHOPE, ORKNEY, SCOTLAND.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 15/01/1917. HE LEFT WIFE MIRRIAM, AND ONE SON.
