BORN HULL 1894. SON OF JOHN JAMES SUDDABY (1860-1940) & ROSE CLARKE SUDDABY ABOVE ADDRESS. SON OF A BRICKLAYER. ONE OF NINE CHILDREN AND SEVEN SONS. ONE OF FIVE BROTHERS SERVING IN THE WAR. A BRICKLAYER’S APPRENTICE.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS DRIVER, 1060, ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 20/04/1915.PROMOTED TO BOMBARDIER, 755082, IN 25TH BRIGADE, ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. HE DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 22/08/1918, AGED 24. BURIED IN FRANCE.

UNMARRIED HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, ROSE. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 9TH OCTOBER 1918. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE VIS-EN-ARTOIS MEMORIAL.
HIS ELDEST BROTHER, CORPORAL, ERNEST SUDDABY, WAS KILLED, SERVING WITH THE AMERICANS, ON 21/07/1918, AGED 30. ANOTHER BROTHER, ALBERT SUDDABY WAS A PRISONER OF WAR. BROTHER, GUNNER, JON SUDDABY (RFA), WAS WOUNDED IN NOVEMBER 1917 AND RICHARD SUDDABY, JOINED THE ROYAL AIR FORCE, IN AUGUST 1918.
