BORN SHIPLEY, BRADFORD, 07/02/1886. SON OF LAURA MARIA SELLAR (1855-1928) & HENRY VIES SUGGIT (1855-1906), FROM BRADFORD. ONE OF FOUR CHILDREN, SON OF A MILLINER AND DRESSMAKER. WORKED AS A MARINE ENGINEER, IN THE ROYAL NAVAL RESERVE. HE MARRIED AT SCULCOATES REGISTRY OFFICE, HULL, ON 18/07/1908. HIS WIFE HENRIETTA GREENHEAD, LIVED AT 36, LONSDALE STREET, HULL & AT 103 CLUMBER STREET, HULL. THEY HAD TWO CHILDREN. HE SERVED AS SECOND ENGINEER ON THE MOTOR VESSEL “ARABIS” (LONDON). SUNK BY SUBMARINE ON 16/09/1917. HIS NAME IS RECORDED IN THE HULL MERCHANT NAVY ROLL OF HONOUR. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE TOWER HILL NAVAL MEMORIAL, LONDON.
