Swinn, Albert

BORN HULL 1890. SON OF GEORGE THOMAS SWINN (1859-1924) & JESSIE RICHARDS (1864-1926), OF 163, FOUNTAIN ROAD, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). THE FOURTH OF FIVE CHILDREN. EMPLOYED AS A CLERK. HIS WIFE WAS ANNIE CALDWELL (1895-1980). THEY HAD ONE DAUGHTER, DOROTHY & LIVED AT 8, SYDNEY GROVE, HOLMES STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS A SERGEANT, IN THE 2ND BATTALION, COLDSTREAM GUARDS. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 06/03/1918, AGED 27.

BURIED AT FAMPOUX BRITISH CEMETERY, PAS DE CALAIS, FRANCE. HIS  GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “DUTY NOBLY DONE HE GIVETH HIS BELOVED SLEEP AND THE PEACE THAT PASSETH ALL UNDER STANDING”.
