Born Kingstown, Dublin, Ireland, Ireland. 17/10/1873. Son of Patrick Taaffe and Kate Gallagher, Ireland. Enlisted Dublin Resided in Walkington, Beverley (1911 Census( and 78 Keldgate, Beverley (CWGC address). Served with the 5th East Yorkshire Regiment. Transferred as Company Sergeant Major, 1st East Yorkshire Regiment. Arrived in France, on 08/09/1914. Died of wounds, on 28/10/1914, aged 34, at Field Hospital, Erquingham. His army effects were left to his widow, Rachel Kate Herbert, who he married in 1907.
His name is recorded on Beverley WW1 memorial.
