BORN BRANTINGHAM, YORKSHIRE, 1880. SON OF JOHN WILLIAM TASKER (1857-1926) & ELLEN HYDE (1863-1933), OF 6, WOODBINE TERRACE, NEWLAND AVENUE, HULL (WAR PENSION & CWGC ADDRESS). HE HAD FOUR BROTHERS AND TWO SISTERS. HE WAS A HULL POST OFFICE WORKER AND PAINTER’S LABOURER.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 07/12/1915. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 7.5 INCHES TALL, 140 LBS WEIGHT, 36 INCH CHEST. CALLED UP ON 08/02/1916. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 20/07/1916. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, “B” COMPANY. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 16/09/1916, AGED 36. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, JOHN TASKER.
HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, SOMME, FRANCE AND AT ST JOHNS CHURCH, NEWLAND, HULL.
