Tate, Gilbert Hardy

Born Hull 1893. Son of Jacob (1849-1914) and Sophia Tate (1857-1937), of 22, Ripon Terrace, Liddell Street, Hull (1911 Census) and 42, Ventor Street, Hull (army address). His father was a House painter, Foreman. He worked as an Architect’s Assistant. Described as 5’9½”, 37½” chest, 10st, brown eyes, black hair, Wesleyan religion.

Enlisted at Hull on 31/08/1914. Served with the 2/1st East Riding of Yorkshire Yeomanry. Discharged 26/06/1915, KR para 392 XVI, sickness (lymphadenoma on neck). Served 299 days. Awarded the Silver War Badge.

He married Florence M Moore in 1920. Died June 1922, aged 28.
