Tattersall, George Robert

BORN HULL 1898. SON OF GEORGE WILLIAM TATTERSALL (1878-1955) AND MARY GERTRUDE FRIDLINGTON (1877-1932), AT 16, MARY ANN TERRACE, SCULCOATES LANE, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). HE HAD TWO BROTHERS AND TWO SISTERS.

KNOWN AS ROBERT TATTERSALL. HE LIVED WITH HIS GRANDPARENTS, ROBERT AND SARAH FRIDLINGTON, AT 2, MARY ANN TERRACE, SCULCOATES LANE.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 10TH YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED ON THE 1ST JULY 1916 AT FRICOURT, ON THE OPENING DAY OF THE BATTLE OF THE SOMME, AGED 18.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HDM 14/8/1916. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS GRANDMOTHER – MRS SARAH FRIDLINGTON.

HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON ST MARY’S CHURCH, SCULCOATES LANE, HULL.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 01/08/1916, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH.
