Taylor, Issac Frederick

BORN HULL 22/08/1895. GRANDSON OF ISSAC, AIR STREET, HULL. MOTHER SARAH THORNTON LIVED AT 697 WASHWOOD HEATH ROAD, WARD END, BIRMINGHAM. HE ENLISTED IN THE ROYAL NAVY, ON 22/06/1914. EMPLOYED AS A NAVAL ARMOURER. KILLED IN ACTION AND LOST AT SEA, AGED 23, ON 16/07/1918. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HDM 15/08/1918. COMMEMORATED AT PLYMOUTH NAVAL MEMORIAL.
The Royal Navy sloop HMS Anchusa was sunk on 16th July 1918 by the German submarine U-54 (Hellmuth von Ruckteschell), off the north coast of Ireland. From her complement of 100, 78 were killed.
