Taylor, Victor Angelo

BORN HULL 1897. SON OF THOMAS TAYLOR (1855-1915) & THE LATE REBECCA SARAH TAYLOR (1868-1910), AT 28 GIBSON STREET , HULL. ONE OF 13 CHILDREN, SEVERAL OF WHICH DIED IN INFANCY. AN APPRENTICE IRON MOULDER.

HE ENLISTED, IN THE EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, ON 22/01/1916, AGED 19 YEARS AND 7 MONTHS. HE ARRIVED IN FRANCE ON 09/07/1916. TRANSFERRED TO THE 8TH EYR, ON 22/07/1916. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION ON THE SOMME, ON 04/11/1916, AGED20. HE HAD SERVED FOR 288 DAYS. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL.
HIS BROTHER, THOMAS TAYLOR WAS KILLED THE SAME YEAR IN FEB 1916.

HE LEFT BROTHERS, ALBERT AND WILLIAM, AND SISTERS, ETHEL, IVY AND KITTY. THE FAMILY MOVED TO 6 GREEN CRESCENT, GREEN LANE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).
