BORN ALDBOROUGH, YORKS, 1890. SON OF JOSEPH SHILITO (JOSSI) TEASDALE (1852-1929) AND ELIZABETH (LIZZIE) CANHAM (1852-1940), OF 4, EPWORTH STREET, HULL. (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).

HE HAD FIVE BROTHERS AND TWO SISTERS. WORKED AS A WINE BOTTLER (1911 CENSUS) AND AS A STORE MAN AT JACKSON’S BAKERY. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 5.5 INCHES TALL, 36 INCH CHEST, VERY GOOD VISION.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 31/08/1914. FORMERLY, 4TH EYR. POSTED TO FRANCE ON 16/04/1915. HE WAS WOUNDED IN THE LEFT ARM AND BACK ON 29/06/1916. INVALIDED TO ENGLAND. RETURNED TO FRANCE 17/01/1917. TRANSFERRED TO THE 8TH EAST YORKSHIRE BATTALION. KILLED IN ACTION 12/03/1917, AGED 27.

COMMEMORATED ON THE ARRAS MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING & AT ST MARYS CHURCH, SCULCOATES LANE, HULL

HE WAS UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WENT TO HIS MOTHER, ELIZABETH.

NB: NOTE HIS BROTHERS, AUSTIN TEASDALE, 11768 COLDSTREAM GUARDS, WAS AWARDED THE DISTINGUISHED CONDUCT MEDAL. HIS OTHER BROTHER, PTE, SEPTIMUS RAYNER TEASDALE, 7TH EYR WAS KILLED IN ACTION ON 21/04/1917.
