BORN HULL 1885. SON OF JAMES AND SARAH TEESDALE, OF 17 FINKLE STREET, COTTINGHAM. SIBLINGS – ELLEN & DORA & ARTHUR AND SAMUEL.
ALBERT MARRIED MARY THERESA IN HULL, 1909. SHE WAS THE DAUGHTER OF A GERMAN, WELL KNOWN IN COTTINGHAM AND HULL. THEY LIVED AT 68 RAGLAN STREET, HULL. HE WAS A BRICKLAYER BEFORE THE WAR. HAD TWO CHILDREN THERESA, AGED 4 & ANTHONY, AGED 2 YEARS OLD. HE WAS THE FIRST HULL SOLDIER TO BE KILLED IN THE FIRST WORLD WAR.
HIS PHOTO APPEARS IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 26/09/1914, REPORTING THAT HE WAS HULL’S FIRST WAR CASUALTY, KILLED BY A SHOTGUN WOUND IN THE ABDOMEN ON SEPTEMBER 9TH, AT TRETOIRE, BRETON. HE IS BURIED ON THE MARNE AT BOITRON CHURCHYARD. HIS DEATH AND PHOTOGRAPH WERE REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 31ST OCTOBER 1914. * ALSO LISTED IN THE DE RUVIGNEY ROLL OF HONOUR, VOLUME 2.
ALSO REPORTED IN THE HULL TIMES WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH, ON 24/09/1914. HE LEFT A WIDOW AND CHILD. HIS WATCH WAS RETURNED FROM THE BATTLEFIELD TO HIS WIFE AND WAS MUCH TREASURED.
HIS BROTHER, SAMUEL TEESDALE, SERVED WITH THE 2ND COLDSTREAM GUARDS AND WAS KILLED IN 1917. BOTH BROTHERS ARE RECORDED ON THE COTTINGHAM WAR MEMORIAL.
