SUMPNER, AT BEVERLEY IN 1916. HIS WIFE LIVED AT 6 CARLTON VILLAS, GROVEHILL ROAD, BEVERLEY. HE ENLISTED IN SHEFFIELD. SERVED IN THE COLDSTREAM GUARDS. DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 31/07/1917, AGED 26. HE IS BURIED AT BLEUET FARM CEMETERY, BELGIUM. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “HIS KING AND COUNTRY CALLED HIM HIS SACRIFICE WAS GREAT – LOVING WIFE”
