BORN NORTH FERRIBY, 1884. ELDEST SON OF THOMAS THISTLETON, HUMBER ROAD, NORTH FERRIBY, EAST RIDING WHO FOR FIFTY YEARS WAS A PORTER ON THE NORTH EASTERN RAILWAYS. TOM WORKED AS A RAILWAY CLERK, LIVING AT STATION ROAD, NORTH FERRIBY.
HE ENLISTED IN LEEDS. FORMERLY, 32/709, NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS. TRANSFERRED TO THE 2ND KING’S OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY AND WAS KILLED ON 12/02/1917, AGED 33. HE IS BURIED AT TEN TREE ALLEY CEMETERY, PUISIEUX.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 20/07/1917. *
HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, HANNAH AT HUMBER ROAD, NORTH FERRIBY. HIS YOUNGER BROTHER, PRIVATE, JOSEPH HENRY THISTLETON, 23184, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, SERVED IN SALONIKA AND WAS DISCHARGED AS WOUNDED IN 1919.
