BORN SOUTH FERRIBY, 1887. SON OF WILLIAM HENRY THOMPSON (1856-1929) AND HARRIETT THOMPSON (1859-1947). HE HAD EIGHT BROTHERS AND FOUR SISTERS. A BRICKMAKE (1911 CENSUS) AND FORMER HULL POLICEMAN.

HE MARRIED EDITH BOWSKIN (1888- 1954), CLANFORD, BRIGG, LINCS., IN 1910. HIS WIFE EDITH & THEIR FOUR DAUGHTERS LIVED 6 BRICKYARD COTTAGES, NORTH FERRIBY.

HE ENLISTED IN THE HULL PALS, ON 23/11/1914. SERVED WITH THE 13TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT IN EGYPT. ARRIVED IN FRANCE ON 11/10/1916. KILLED IN ACTION, AT SERRE, ON 13/11/1916, AGED 29. HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON ST MATHEWS CHURCH ROLL OF HONOUR, BOULEVARD, HULL.

HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, WALTER THOMPSON, 13/1278, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, DIED, ON 13/10/1918, AGED 24.
