Thompson, Frederick

Born Hull, 2nd March 1891. Youngest Son of Jacob Thompson (1842-1902) and Mary Ann White (1860-1911). He had three brothers and four sisters.

He married, Edith Alice Marshall, on 30 Jan 1911 • St. James Church, Hull.

Husband of Edith Alice Emson (born, 1/12/1891- 1956), of 65, Naylor’s Row, Hull (Army Address) and 4, West View, Sculcoates Lane, Hull (War Pension address). They had three children, Lena, Fred and Muriel.

A Cement Works Labourer. Also worked in the Oil Mills and Paint Factory. Described as 5 foot, 8 inches tall, 37.5-39 inch chest, 151 lbs weight, normal vision, good physical development.

He enlisted on 10/5/1915, aged 24. Served in the 2nd Northumbrian, Royal Field Artillery, 63rd Brigade. Discharged after 251 days, on 14/1/1916. Awarded the Silver War Badge. Died of acute Bronchitis, on 14/05/1917. Buried at Hull Hedon Road Cemetery. His widow remarried and became mrs emson. She was a awarded a weekly war pension, of 29/3 on 7/8/1917.

His elder brother, James served at sea during the war. Another brother, Private, Thomas Thompson, 1287, served in the EYR and was discharged from the army, on 12 May 1916. He lived at 12, Fern Avenue, Bournemouth Street, Hull.
