Thompson, William

Born Hull, 14/12/1899. Son of Francis Thompson (1876-1949) and Annie Eliza (Minnie) Butters (1878-1956), of 84 Welbeck Street, Hull (1911 Census) and 53 Staniforth Place, Hessle Road, Hull (Pension Ledger Address). Son of a Fish Dealer. He had three brothers and two sisters.

He enlisted at Hull in 1916, aged 17. served as Private, No 57562, 4th Yorkshire & LancasterRegiment. Wounded with gun shot wounds to the thigh. Discharged from the army. Awarded Sliver Badge No. B278211. Died of wounds on 26/09/1920 at Sculcoates, Yorkshire.

His army effects were left to his mother, Minnie at 53 Staniforth Place, Hull. His father Frank, enlisted in Hull, on 12/04/1915, and served as a Driver, in the Royal Field Artillery, during the war.
