HIS FATHER WAS A TIME AND STOR KEEPER. HIS MOTHER WAS 16 YEARS YOUNGER THAN HIS FATHER. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS LANCE CORPORAL, 9739. 1ST WEST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 20/10/1914, AGED 21. UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER GEORGE. HE WAS BROTHER TO HARRY, DORIS, ARTHUR AND GEORGE. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE PLOEGSTEERT MEMORIAL. HIS NAME WAS LISTED ON WILMINGTON ROLL OF HONOUR IN HULL.
