WORKED AS A DOCK LABOURER. HE LIVED WITH HIS LODGER IN ONE ROOM AT 64 LISTER STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS). HE MARRIED AT HULL, ON 17/06/1912. HUSBAND OF LOUISA JANE WATKINS (1891-1964) OF 2 NILE STREET, HULL.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 3/6658, 2ND EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 15/01/1915. KILLED IN ACTION, AT YPRES, ON 05/02/1915, AGED 34.
HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, LOUISA AND HIS DAUGHTER, EDITH WATKINS (1910-1979), BORN BEFORE MARRIEAGE, ON 13/06/1910. HIS WIDOW WAS INELLIGIBLE FOR A GRANT, BUT AWARDED A WEEKLY WAR PENSION OF 15 SHILLINGS, ON 17/11/1915.

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE MENIN GATE MEMORIAL, YPRES.
