Tighe, John

Born Hull 1878. Enlisted Hull. Son of Patrick Tighe and Elizabeth Tighe (nee Craven), of 70 North Street, Hull and 14 Albert Terrace, Spring Street, Hull.

Husband of Eliza Tighe, of 209, Freeman Street, Grimsby. He enlisted in Grantham and had served in the army for 20 years.

He went out to France, with the British Expeditionary Force, in 1914. Served as a Sergeant, in the 6th Lincolnshire Regiment. Was invalided back to England in December 1914 with Frostbite. Also saw service in Salonika and Egypt, before proceeding to France again. Wounded in action. He died of wounds at Tooting Military Hospital. His death was reported in the HDM 20/10/1916. *

His brother, Private, 3/4340, Roger Tighe, enlisted in Beverley and served with the 1st East Yorkshire Regiment. He also died of wounds, on 19/06/1917, aged 31.
