Todd, Charles William

BORN YORK 1875. SON OF THOMAS VINER (1855-1938) AND MARY ANN TODD (1853-1929), AT 243, WINCOLMLEE, HULL (ARMY ADDRESS). HE HAD A BROTHER AND TWO SISTERS. AN OIL EXTRACTOR, FOR THE HULL OIL COMPANY. HE WAS A MARRIED MAN WITH A SON AND THREE STEP CHILDREN. LIVED AT 14 POPLAR TERRACE, CHAPMAN STREET, HULL AND 4, CHESTNUT GROVE, GARDEN VILLAGE, HULL .

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 890 EYR. TRANSFERRED TO THE 1ST WEST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. HE DIED OF DYSENTRY AND MALARIA, AT THE MALTA HOSPITAL, ON 31/07/1917, AGED 41.

HIS WAR PENSION WENT TO HIS WIDOW, ANNIE TODD AND SON WILLIAM, WHO MOVED TO 54, CHESTNUT GROVE, GARDEN VILLAGE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 22/08/1917.

HIS MOTHER HAD LOST TWO SONS IN THE WAR. HIS STEP BROTHER, THOMAS VINER, SERVED IN THE 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT & DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 24/04/1917, AGED 25.
